Vibration

Currently Sirius are using a device called a guillotine breaker to break up the concrete on the Bristol Road site. I have been in discussion with the Council and Sirius about my anxiety that the vibrations caused by it will cause structural damage to my home.  To date these discussions have been unhelpful.  My particular concern is that the older properties have shallow footings and are particularly prone to vibration damage accordingly.

For the contractor there are two choices break up the concrete using peckers or the guillotine breaker. Using peckers is noisy and dusty. The dust can be controlled using water spray. The noise can be mitigated using acoustic baffles but this is expensive and I can understand there would be a reluctance to go to these lengths.

If you are concerned about the vibration then do contact the Council details are here.
